The highlights -  When clients ask for streaks in their hair, they request heavy blonde pieces to be inserted into their dark mane. On the other hand, highlights are placed on a small section of the hair and are lighter than the existing hairs. Many people believe that only blondes can seek these offerings, but it is wrong. The highlights are simply a lighter colour insertion technique your hairdresser uses to introduce shades like copper, red, brown, etc. To do this, your hair is placed strategically around the head in a foil before actually colouring these from roots to tips. Using foil helps to keep the process within the appropriate levels of brightness.

The Balayage - It means to sweep in the French language. In this method, your Hairsalon uses a colour to paint or sweep onto the sections using a freehand application. The colour is painted to the sections on the midlength or ends while staying away from roots. Such technique begins at the nape and leaves out a thin bottom section. The same is then worked up around the midsection and ended at the top parts. The effect is thicker than highlights and is only a few shades lighter than the base shade.   • With the balayage technique, the colour is painted from the mid-length to the ends, but with Highlights, the same is saturated with colour from roots to the ends.
